Woody, a dog with an unforgettable charm, has a story that touches the heart. According to SNARR Animal Rescue, Woody was attacked by another dog when he was just five weeks old and had to endure his injuries without veterinary care. After being tied up and abandoned by his owner, SNARR stepped in to rescue Woody. For six long weeks, Woody survived on the kindness of neighbors who brought him food until he was finally discovered and saved by SNARR.
Woody’s former family had moved away, leaving him behind. In a Facebook post, SNARR shared, “We decided to remove him from this loveless environment.” Despite his unusual appearance due to facial injuries, Woody was in good health. “Woody looks different from other dogs, but that doesn’t bother us; in fact, it makes us love him even more.”
But it’s not just his appearance that makes Woody special—his rescuers quickly saw his big heart. When Woody arrived at his foster home, he immediately bonded with his adoptive mom, Jamie Bond.
“I had a fever the first day we got Woody,” Jamie recalls, “and the dog sensed something was wrong. He stayed by my side all day, curled up on the couch with me, making sure I was safe and comforted. Woody loves to snuggle in bed and rest his head on my chest.”
Now 8 months old, Woody is making up for lost “puppy” time and brings joy to those around him. Despite his cleft nose, Woody is looking for a forever home filled with love.
SNARR is carefully screening potential adopters to ensure Woody finds the best home possible. “Woody is very sweet and needs love and patience,” they shared. Woody would do best in a home without cats, as he enjoys chasing them, and SNARR believes he would thrive in a household with women only.
Currently, Woody is being raised with four other dogs and is doing wonderfully. He gets along well with kids, but SNARR recommends that his future home have older children, preferably over 10 years old. Though Woody isn’t aggressive, his size and occasional bursts of energy make him better suited for a household with larger dogs.
If you meet the adoption criteria and are interested in giving Woody a forever home, you can fill out an application on the SNARR Northwest website.
