Picasso, a five-year-old dog with a crooked nose, and Newt, a one-year-old who lost his upper jaw after being bitten by his mother as a puppy, have formed an unbreakable bond.
Their deep connection was revealed by Liesl Wilhardt, 53, the founder and director of Lovable Dog Rescue. Despite their significant facial deformities, Picasso and Newt live happily together on a 55-acre property in Oregon, USA.
Liesl took in Picasso in 2017 after his brother’s sudden death, and Newt joined the family in 2021. From the moment they met, the two dogs became inseparable.
Despite the daily challenges they face due to their deformities and Newt’s medical issues, the pair lead a joyful life. Videos of their everyday activities, such as feeding, playing, walking, and picking berries, showcase their strong bond.
Picasso’s survival as a newborn was a miracle, according to Liesl, as his crooked nose made it difficult for him to nurse. Newt, on the other hand, has faced numerous challenges beyond his missing upper jaw.
Both dogs are outgoing and love interacting with people, often drawing second glances from those who are curious about their unique appearances. But Liesl assures that they are not in pain and have adapted to their physical limitations, living full and happy lives.
Picasso and Newt’s love for each other has only grown stronger over time, with Picasso particularly enjoying Newt’s playful nature. Liesl describes them as affectionate, intelligent, and joyful dogs who have brought immense happiness into her life.
