Riggs, a seven-year-old pup with a heart full of love, endured a life filled with heartbreaks before finally finding his dream home. Abandoned three times, Riggs had all but given up on the idea of ever finding a loving family. He spent his days curled up in his shelter kennel, wearing a sorrowful expression that reflected his deep disappointment.
Despite his hardships, fate had something beautiful in store for him. On a Saturday night, a kind woman named April felt an inexplicable urge to visit a local animal shelter, even though she had no intention of adopting another pet. With three cats and a dog at home, her family was already complete, but her heart told her otherwise.
When she arrived at the shelter the next day, she was immediately drawn to Riggs, who was lying in his kennel, looking heartbroken and defeated. Overwhelmed by his sadness, April burst into tears. “When I first saw him, I got down on my knees crying because I had never seen a dog look so sad. It broke my heart, and I instantly felt a connection with him,” she shared.
Riggs’ journey to the shelter had been a tough one. In 2019, he was found wandering the streets and taken in by Maricopa County Animal Control West in Phoenix. Despite having a microchip, his original owner didn’t want him back, leaving Riggs without a home. Although he was adopted three times, each time, he was returned to the shelter, shattering his dreams of a loving family.
But on that fateful day, April decided that she would give Riggs the home he had always longed for. After introducing him to her family, who immediately fell in love with him, April completed the adoption paperwork, and Riggs’ life changed forever. The moment he realized he was finally going home, his face lit up with joy, and his tail wagged with excitement.
Now, Riggs is living his dream life in Goodyear, Arizona. He is adored by his new family, who marvel at how well he fits in. “He is a good boy, and I cannot figure out why someone would abandon him. He is so good with our kids, and our other dog adores him,” April said.
Riggs spends his days filled with love and cuddles, making the most of every moment with his new family. His story, from despair to happiness, is a heartwarming reminder that love and compassion can truly change a life.
