The mother dog stretched her head out, desperately seeking help. She and her puppies were trapped in this place, and neighbors said she had been there for many years. A strong, foul odor lingered in the air.
An old, rusted cage, shut throughout the year, served as a shelter for her and her helpless pups. It’s heartbreaking to imagine the hardships they endured—facing hunger, cold, rain, and harsh sun. What more could she endure?
This was her bowl of spoiled food.
Inside her food bowl were even seashells…
Mixed with the owner’s leftover corn, the old rice had turned moldy. The bowl was rusty and filthy, with waste contaminating the food. Locals mentioned that the owner lived well and kept a tidy appearance but cared little for the dogs’ well-being.
Is this suitable food for newborn puppies?
Old and new scraps were thrown together in a single bowl, alongside snail shells they hadn’t discarded. It felt more like a trash can than food meant for dogs.
The mother dog looked at us with tearful eyes. Some of the puppies were near death—it was a devastating moment for her.
In the end, we managed to take them all away. Fueled by love, we fought to rescue these poor dogs from their owner. Five out of eight puppies survived. Some still had their umbilical cords intact—they were tiny, with eyes yet to open, and very hungry.
The doctors feared possible infections. I prayed for their safety. The mother dog struggled to produce milk; she was little more than skin and bones after enduring starvation.
She cried when she couldn’t see her pups. It was going to be a long night for all of us. But joy returned when she saw them safe again. We reported what had happened. Did you know? She had been chained for years. The owner only cared about breeding puppies for profit, ignoring her suffering.
As another storm approached, the weaker puppies couldn’t hold on. They crossed the rainbow bridge and became little angels. We wept for the poor mother’s misfortune. Her surviving pups became her last hope, and we did our best to comfort her.
Soon, it was time for us to return, and the puppies began to discover how beautiful the world could be. A wonderful life awaited them, especially with the joy of being adopted. Playa stayed with us for the rest of her days. She could run freely wherever she wished. It felt like a dream to her—a life full of freedom and adventure.
A new world had finally opened up for her!
