Sadly, the sweet pup in today’s story experienced this heartbreaking reality firsthand.
The Rescue Mission
Despite having rescued countless animals, Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California, still feels a pang in her heart every time she hears about an animal in need. When she learned about a pup abandoned on a busy and dangerous highway, she knew there wasn’t a moment to lose.
Calling her friend Arturo for backup, they rushed to the location, even though it was late at night.
When they arrived, the gravity of the situation hit them immediately. The street was extremely busy, and the poor pup was petrified. A homeless man informed the rescuers that the dog had stayed in the same spot since being abandoned, likely waiting for his owners to return.
Hall and Arturo knew they had to be careful—any sudden movement could scare the pup into running into traffic, risking serious injury.
“I honestly couldn’t have done this rescue alone. I’m so thankful Arturo was there with me. One wrong move and he could have darted into oncoming traffic,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.
One Chance to Get It Right
Understanding the risks, the rescuers devised a plan to catch the pup on the first try. They constructed a small enclosed area using a mattress, some boxes, and pieces of wood they found nearby.
Arturo and Hall carefully herded the terrified dog into the makeshift enclosure, blocking his escape route with a piece of wood as he tried to flee in confusion and fear.
“After a lot of struggle, and with Arturo holding up the area where he was trying to escape, I finally got him in my snare,” Hall wrote.
The relief both Hall and Arturo felt after safely securing the pup was indescribable. They quickly placed him in their car and headed to the vet clinic, overjoyed that they had given this pup a second chance at life.
A New Chapter
Given the intensity of the rescue, Hall knew the perfect name for the pup.
“This wasn’t easy—his life was in our hands, but we took a chance. That’s why we named him Chance,” Hall wrote.
Touched by his ordeal, the vet staff treated Chance to a soothing spa day, leaving him looking and feeling like a million bucks.
Thanks to these two amazing rescuers, Chance now has a shot at the happy life he deserves.
