All Kelly ever wanted was to be loved, but instead, she was met with rejection.
Kelly’s previous owner, a heartless breeder, used her for profit and discarded her when she was no longer useful.

As she trudged through the lonely streets, Kelly held onto the hope that someone would notice her and offer the help she so desperately needed.

Kelly Arrives at the Shelter
The rescuers at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, quickly came to Kelly’s aid when they found her on the streets.
Their hearts sank when they saw how malnourished and neglected she was.
Upon arriving at the shelter, Kelly’s sweet and loving personality immediately charmed the staff. The pup, starved for affection, relished the cuddles and attention she received from her new friends.
“Kelly is an absolute love bug and enjoys being with people and getting affection. She is goofy and likes to play with chew toys and go for walks,” Susan Leonti, the digital marketing specialist at the Humane Society of Broward County, told Newsweek.
The staff was determined to find Kelly a forever home as quickly as possible. After all she had been through, they knew she needed to experience true happiness in a loving environment.
The shelter shared Kelly’s story on social media, showing a hopeful pup standing in her kennel, wagging her tail.
A couple looking to adopt their first dog together saw the video and immediately fell in love with Kelly.
The next day, they arrived at the shelter, saying that Kelly had stolen their hearts and they couldn’t wait to bring her home.
A Short-Lived Happiness
Thinking their girl had finally found happiness, the shelter staff was overjoyed.
On the day of her adoption, Kelly couldn’t contain her excitement. Her face lit up with joy as she said goodbye to her shelter friends.
Her new parents took her home, ready to shower her with love and care. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.
Shortly after bringing Kelly home, the couple discovered that one of them was allergic to dogs. With heavy hearts, they had no choice but to return Kelly to the shelter.
Kelly had gotten a taste of happiness, only to have it snatched away.
Back behind the kennel bars, Kelly’s heart broke.
“Since being returned, Kelly has had such a sad and worried look on her face. When we walk by her kennel, she cries out to us and has a look of desperation in her eyes. It is simply heartbreaking to see,” Leonti added.
Though she loves her shelter friends and appreciates their kindness, Kelly dreams of finding her own family.
The pup longs to experience true love for the first time in her life.
