A mother’s love knows no limits, and Ruby, a Doberman Pinscher, proves that it transcends species.
Just a week after giving birth to a litter of six puppies, Ruby welcomed an abandoned newborn kitten into her family, nursing and caring for the tiny feline as if it were one of her own. This touching story is as heartwarming as it is adorable.
Brittany Callan, from Geneseo, owns six Dobermans, including Ruby, who is four-and-a-half years old and had recently given birth to a litter of six puppies.
However, that litter grew to seven after Brittany made a surprising discovery while cleaning her aunt’s gutters.
She found a newborn kitten, seemingly abandoned by its mother. Brittany and her cousin, Nicole Gibbs, kept watch, hoping the mother cat would return. But when they heard coyotes nearby, they brought the kitten inside for safety. Nicole named the little kitten Ramblin’ Rose, in honor of her recently deceased father’s favorite song.
Ramblin’ Rose was incredibly tiny, still with part of her dried umbilical cord attached, leading Brittany to believe the kitten was only a few days old.
