We’ve all heard of big dogs and may have even encountered some giant ones, but it’s rare to see a wolf behaving like a domesticated dog. This is exactly the case with Akela, a massive Canadian wolf, and his owner, Andrey. Despite Akela’s intimidating size, the two are inseparable buddies who act like this is the most natural thing in the world.
Personally, I’d be a bit intimidated by such a large animal, but it’s clear that Akela is just a big ol’ pupper at heart.

In a video posted on Andrey’s YouTube channel, viewers can see just how endearing Akela’s behavior is. The video begins with Akela posing for the camera with Andrey, then quickly shifts to a playful interaction. Akela nuzzles Andrey’s face and playfully nips at the hood of his hoodie.
Akela even goes as far as clambering on top of Andrey, resting atop him while still trying to get at his hoodie and ears. For most people, this kind of interaction with a large wolf would be terrifying, but Andrey knows that Akela is just being playful and has no intention of harming him.
The video captures Akela’s triumph as he finally manages to pull down the hoodie. Throughout the video, Akela continues to be playful, clearly uninterested in the filming and just wanting quality time with his human friend.

This type of play is natural for them.
To some, Akela’s playful biting and seemingly aggressive behavior might be intimidating, especially given his size. However, this is just typical play behavior for wolves and dogs alike. When dogs play-fight with their canine friends, they often exhibit similar behaviors, and for Akela, Andrey is simply a part of his pack.
Akela’s playful antics are not a cause for concern for Andrey, who manages to control the situation with ease, using just one hand to handle the massive wolf.
