Today, we encountered a distressed dog abandoned on the road. Those who saw its condition were frightened and kept their distance. The poor animal appeared severely ill, writhing in agony as it continuously twitched on the ground. Its mouth gaped open, making weak, pitiful sounds.
It couldn’t even control its urination, and its fur was infested with dirty fleas. Looking into its helpless eyes, one could sense a silent plea for help, yet no one came to its aid. My heart ached for this suffering creature.
We decided to take him to the veterinary hospital for an examination. However, what followed left us in shock. On the examination table, the dog continued to convulse, clearly in pain and exhaustion. The veterinarian assessed him and estimated he was about two to three years old. His ears were riddled with ticks, and his entire body was infested with lice and jumping bugs. It was as if he had wandered aimlessly until fate led him to us.
The blood test results were disheartening. The doctor explained that his seizures were not curable; they could only be managed. The damage stemmed from a previous injury that had gone untreated.
Compounding his suffering, he had also contracted severe dog fever, leading to nerve damage that impacted his central nervous system. Currently, there is no effective treatment available. Medications can only provide temporary relief and reduce the frequency of seizures.
Despite the challenges ahead, we have no regrets about adopting him. The rescue team is committed to supporting this brave dog on its difficult path to recovery. We will do everything in our power to provide him with the care he deserves.
