As a dog owner, one of the most challenging tasks is constantly keeping an eye on them to prevent injuries. In many ways, they are like toddlers—curious and always exploring their surroundings. But sometimes, this curiosity can lead to trouble.
Cloud, a playful puppy, found herself in such a situation while playing outside with her siblings. She got stung by a bee, but thankfully, her foster mom noticed the swelling on her face and quickly rushed her to the vet.
Cloud’s Backstory
Cute dogs on stairs
Cloud and her siblings were first discovered by Hope Animal Rescue in North Carolina. The rescue team found the puppies and knew they needed foster homes, but it was a tall order since there were nine puppies in total.
Originally, they approached Jean, a seasoned foster mom, to take in Cloud. However, Jean was hesitant because she had plans to go out of town and finding a temporary foster for nine puppies seemed impossible.
But as plans often do, they changed. Jean made a last-minute decision that altered everything.

Jean recalled, “I initially said I probably couldn’t do it because finding a temporary foster for nine puppies seemed unlikely. But then I realized I would rather take care of these puppies than leave town.”
So, Jean and her husband welcomed all nine puppies into their home. To accommodate them, Jean’s husband even built an outbuilding with air conditioning to ensure the puppies were comfortable.
Cloud Got Stung by a Bee

The puppies enjoyed their new yard, which served as a perfect playground for them. But just as they were settling in, something unexpected happened.
Cloud got stung by a bee while playing. Her foster mom, Jean, noticed the swelling quickly and rushed her to a vet clinic in North Carolina.
At the clinic, the vets examined Cloud and decided she needed to stay for the day for observation. But the day wasn’t over for Jean.

Jean shared, “When I returned home, I noticed two other puppies also seemed to have been bitten, which my husband hadn’t noticed.”
These puppies were also taken to the ER, but fortunately, their conditions weren’t severe. The vets administered Benadryl, assuring Jean that the puppies would recover quickly.
However, even after the vets’ observation, Cloud’s face remained swollen, and Jean was concerned about the lack of progress.
Two dogs and a puppy
The vets reassured Jean that it was safe for Cloud to go home and that she should continue the treatment at home. Jean diligently administered Benadryl, and by the next morning, Cloud’s swelling had significantly reduced, and she was back to her playful self.
While we don’t know if Cloud and her siblings have found their forever homes yet, we can be sure that their rescuers, like Jean, are doing everything possible to give them the best chance at a happy life.
