My breaking point came during a lunch with Jill and some other coworkers. When I mentioned something as being shallow, Jill responded with a jab about my chest, saying, “you’d know all about being shallow,” while gesturing toward me. It was at that moment that I reached my limit and snapped.
For the remainder of the day, I received support from about a third of my office colleagues, while the rest dismissed Jill’s behavior as mere joking and accused me of overreacting. To those who defended Jill, I retorted that she had been displaying inappropriate behavior long before I reacted.

I got an email from HR asking for a meeting the next day, mentioning a “hostile work environment.” Debbie, who I recognized as Jill’s friend in HR, sent it. This made me suspect she reported me.
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, I understood the importance of gathering evidence to support my case, so I began collecting information.
