Ending Relationships to Prioritize Self-Respect

After the lunch, I was lounging with a few other ladies while our partners were splashing around in the pool, doing cannonballs. One of my friend’s partners, (25m), asked why I wasn’t swimming, and I explained that I just didn’t feel like it that day and preferred to relax in the shade.

At that moment, my partner emerged from the pool, and I assumed he was going to join back in. Instead, he came over to me, lifted up the bottom of my dress, exposing my legs, and exclaimed, “She’s not swimming today because she’s as hairy as a freaking bear!”

I quickly grabbed my dress and pulled it back down, feeling incredibly embarrassed, and shot him a very angry look. There were a few chuckles, but mostly awkward silence. I was absolutely mortified by his insensitive comment, especially considering he knows how self-conscious I am about this issue.
