Dear owners and fellow PupViners,
I usually bring you cheerful news, but today my heart is heavy.
We lost a cherished canine companion yesterday. His suffering had become unbearable, and the only option left was to let him peacefully drift away.

Tigger, my parents’ dog and a beloved member of our family, lived a joyful life, full of love and affection.
While searching online for something to comfort us, I came across a post by a colleague explaining what really happens when a dog enters that final room where they will peacefully rest forever.
I hope this information brings you the same peace it brought my parents.
I pray that your furry friends now run free in green meadows, chasing after butterflies.
The End Has Come

Our beloved Tigger was in immense pain, and there was nothing more we could do to help him. It was only a matter of days or weeks before he would cross the rainbow bridge. We all agreed that we loved him too much to let him suffer.
When our family vet asked my parents if they wanted to be with Tigger in his final moments, they knew instantly. They never considered leaving his side.
Later, as I browsed the internet, I realized they made the right choice.
I know it’s incredibly painful to say goodbye to your dog.
I know it’s a heartache that will never truly heal.
But I also know that we all need closure.
I don’t know about you, but neither my parents nor I could have forgiven ourselves if we hadn’t been there for Tigger.

A social media post from Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital truly opened my eyes, and I hope it opens yours too:
“As a pet owner, it’s likely that your pet will pass before you do. When the time comes for a humane, pain-free goodbye at the vet’s office, please remember this: You have been the center of their world for their entire lives. You may just be a part of their world, but to them, you are everything. It’s an incredibly difficult decision and a heartbreaking day, but I beg you, do not leave them. Don’t make them transition from life to death in a room full of strangers in a place they fear. Most of you don’t know this, but they search for you when you leave them behind. They scan every face, looking for the one they love. They don’t understand why you’ve abandoned them when they’re sick, scared, old, or dying from cancer. Please don’t be a coward, thinking it’s too hard for you. Imagine how they feel if you leave them in their most vulnerable moment. People like me are left to comfort them, try to ease their fear, and explain why you couldn’t stay.”
From a weary, heartbroken vet.
Don’t abandon your dog in his final moments, no matter how difficult it may be.
I believe adding anything more would only diminish the powerful words from our colleague at Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital.
Until we can discuss brighter topics…
Love,
Liam and his remaining four-legged companions.
