At just 11 months old, this Labrador retriever mix, who weighs about 45 pounds, is struggling to regain her trust in humans after being returned to the shelter by her foster home. Her foster parents realized they lacked the skills needed to help a dog as frightened and isolated as Scarlett.
Scarlett arrived at the shelter on May 10, 2023, and immediately withdrew into a corner, trembling and refusing any attempts to comfort her. Scheduled for euthanasia on May 15, she was saved thanks to the timely care provided by BARC.
Scarlett’s fear is not her fault, and she deserves a chance to experience love and safety. She needs a patient and understanding parent who can help her heal.
