Donna from Stray Rescue couldn’t believe her eyes when she met Albus. His body was emaciated, yet his gentle spirit shone through. It was unclear whether he had been abandoned or had wandered into the neighborhood, but one thing was evident—he was barely hanging on. Donna knew she had to act fast to save him.
Without hesitation, Donna responded to the call and rushed to assess the situation. Grateful to the homeowner for reporting Albus’s condition, she reassured him that they would do everything possible to aid the dog’s recovery. The man was relieved to know Albus would receive the care he desperately needed.
Approaching the weakened Doberman, Donna gently placed a leash around his neck and led him to the rescue vehicle. Albus, as if understanding that he was finally safe, followed her and rested once inside the car.
Soon after, a foster volunteer stepped in to provide Albus with the care he needed. Under the foster’s watchful eye, Albus began to regain his strength. With nutritious meals, treatments, and plenty of emotional support, he steadily recovered.
After receiving heartworm treatment, Albus transformed into a different dog. His once bony frame filled out, his coat became shiny, and his eyes sparkled with life. Donna was amazed at the progress and was deeply thankful for the foster’s dedication.
Whether the foster mom will ultimately adopt Albus remains uncertain, but Donna believes he has found his forever home. Regardless, one thing is sure: thanks to the love and care provided by Stray Rescue of St. Louis and his foster, Albus now has a second chance at life.
