Emaciated, bald, and covered in scabs, she was fighting to survive. But a compassionate passerby noticed her, changing the course of her life. That kind stranger contacted Iberville Parish Animal Control, who quickly rescued Dobby, bringing her to Bayou Buddies, a dedicated rescue organization that offered her the care she desperately needed.
The Road to Recovery
Dobby’s first night at her foster home marked a new beginning. After a warm bath, a nourishing meal, and a cozy bed, she finally slept soundly—perhaps for the first time. Her foster family discovered she had demodectic mange, a condition causing severe fur loss. With treatment, proper nutrition, and gentle affection, Dobby began to heal. Her skin slowly cleared, her energy returned, and her beautiful fur started growing back, revealing the sweet, spirited dog beneath.
A Flight to a Brighter Future
Dobby’s story soon reached Greater Good Charities, a nonprofit devoted to helping animals in need. Through their emergency medical program, they covered the costs of her treatment and arranged for her to join one of their Good Flights, an airlift that transports at-risk pets to shelters with more resources. Dobby’s journey from Louisiana to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey brought her to a new world—and her forever family.

On August 30, Dobby’s life took a joyful turn. After months of recovery and a long journey, she was adopted by a family who instantly fell in love with her.
