At only five and a half months old, she was found on the streets of Columbus, Mississippi, nearly blind with matted eyes and covered in open sores due to untreated demodectic mange. Weighing just 24 pounds, she was battling severe bacterial and yeast infections.
A compassionate stranger found Morena and reached out to Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, hoping they could help. Aimee and Kenneth Shaw, founders of the rescue, couldn’t turn her away despite their full house. They arranged for Morena to be brought directly to their veterinarian, ready to give her the care she desperately needed.
A Rescue of Love
