We might call it puppy love, but these two adorable friends can’t seem to keep their paws apart.
A pair of inseparable stray puppies have captured hearts on social media after being adopted by Buddhist nuns in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The older pup is seen guarding a shrine inside the temple, holding his friend close in his paws.
Another photo shows the dog in a Zen pose beside a Buddhist statue, suggesting he is learning meditation with the Masters.
The temple reportedly took in the pair of dogs after they were abandoned on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, giving them a second chance at life.
In response, hundreds of comments praising the bond between the dog friends flooded the social media site Weibo.
“Now that the dogs are in the temple, they should sit in meditation like the nuns,” remarked one user.
Others criticized the puppies’ former owners for abandoning them.
“I don’t understand how people can be so heartless. They shouldn’t have adopted dogs if they couldn’t care for them!”
However, differing opinions on social media raised questions about the dogs’ story.
A monk from the Bao Hua Son Temple in Khanh Hoa province reportedly rescued them, according to a source on Twitter.
“Those puppies were born in that temple in Vietnam, and the nuns taught them to stand up and hug each other,” said Mira Eleonora Pantazopol Loredanescu, a philologist at the Faculty of Linguistics in Bucharest, offering a different perspective.
“There is no happy ending for little black Matt, as they don’t have any veterinary care for the animals there,” added Loredanescu, who uses her Facebook account to expose alleged animal mistreatment.
