It all began when two young girls, Sophie and Yuli, decided to explore the nearby forest to gather figs from a tree. They had climbed the tree, unaware that they were not alone. Nearby, Thomas saw the lifeless body of the puma—Morocho had successfully saved the children by risking his life in the battle with the ferocious wild cat.
Thomas carried the injured hero back to their farm, where the family worked tirelessly over the next ten days to nurse Morocho back to health. Their loyal companion had endured tremendous pain but had survived. Morocho’s bravery made him a true legend, not just within his family, but throughout the community.
