For Ashley Boggs, a dedicated dog rescuer, helping animals in need is more than just a job—it’s her life mission. One day, while driving down a remote forest road in Puerto Rico, she encountered a sight that stopped her in her tracks. A brown dog was frantically trying to get the attention of passing cars, pleading for help.
Unlike most stray dogs that shy away from people or aimlessly wander the roads, this canine had a purpose. She seemed desperate to communicate with Boggs, and it quickly became clear why.
A Mother’s Plea
When Ashley stepped out of her car, she realized that this was no ordinary stray—she was a nursing mother, desperate to find help for her newborn puppies. Alone in the woods with no food or water, this brave dog had been fighting to keep her babies alive. Fortunately, Boggs, who works with Miracles for Satos Rescue in New York, arrived just in time to be their hero.
A Heart-Wrenching Discovery
As Ashley followed the mother dog, who was later named Goji, she discovered two puppies hiding in a secluded spot. The pups were friendly and allowed Boggs to easily secure them in her car. But as she prepared to leave, she heard more faint cries from deeper in the woods. Determined to save them all, she went back to investigate.
After a thorough search, Boggs found four more puppies near the box they had been abandoned in. Tirelessly, she worked to gather all seven pups and safely transport them in her car.
A Family Rescued Just in Time
Once back at the rescue facility, Boggs and the Miracles for Satos Rescue team provided the starving family with the care they so desperately needed. The pups, along with their brave mom, Goji, were finally safe.
Miracles for Satos Rescue, an organization dedicated to saving and transporting dogs from Puerto Rico to New York, ensured that this lucky family got a fresh start. The puppies, now named Raspberry, Blueberry, Gooseberry, Cloudberry, Blackberry, and Strawberry, were taken to a foster home where they began socializing and learning how to be playful pups.
Goji, despite her struggles, quickly adapted to her new life. She was affectionate, loving every dog and person she met. “She is the absolute best dog. She loves rubs, cuddles, and will even do tricks for treats,” the MFSR team shared on their Facebook page.
A Happy Ending
Thanks to Ashley Boggs and the Miracles for Satos Rescue team, Goji and her adorable “Berry” pups no longer had to worry about their safety. They soon found loving forever homes, where they now thrive.
Once abandoned and left to fend for themselves in the wilderness, these precious furballs are now living their best lives, bringing joy to their new families every day.
