Indus, a majestic Husky/Malamute/Timber Wolf mix from Northwood, New Hampshire, had been living with his mom, Morgan, while his dad, Devin Ekstrom, was away for army basic training. The separation was tough on everyone, especially on Indus, who couldn’t understand why his beloved dad was gone and when he would return.
When Barks Turn To Kisses
Devin began his U.S. Army Basic Training on October 15, 2017. His absence was deeply felt by his family, including Indus, who missed him dearly. After 10 long months, Devin finally came home for the Christmas holidays, bringing immense joy to everyone, but especially to Indus.
Unaware of his dad’s return, Indus was initially confused and barked at Devin, who was in his military uniform and big boots. However, as soon as Indus caught a whiff of Devin’s familiar scent, his reaction transformed.
In The Pawprints Of Love
Morgan captured the touching reunion on video. Indus’s excitement was palpable as he realized his dad was back. The video shows Indus running to Devin, showering him with kisses, and celebrating with exuberant tail wags and happy zoomies.
Devin dropped to his knees to be at eye level with Indus, who immediately ran over to him, unable to contain his joy. The heartfelt reunion was filled with kisses, hugs, and uncontainable happiness.
“Indus’ dad was so happy and blown away by the love he received once he recognized him,” Morgan shared. “I was crying along with the rest of the family.”
The emotional reunion quickly went viral, amassing over 17k views on Indus’s official Instagram profile. Commenters expressed their joy and appreciation for the touching moment and for Devin’s service to the country.
