As Yolanda, a teacher at San Marcos High School in Texas, approached her workplace one morning, she never expected the surprise waiting for her. Out of nowhere, five tiny fur babies suddenly appeared, running toward her with desperate eyes, pleading for help.
The malnourished puppies, with their big, innocent eyes, tugged at Yolanda’s heartstrings. Unable to ignore their plea, she rushed inside the school to seek assistance from her coworker, Belinda Peña, a senior assistant at the school.
The Furballs Receive Help
When Peña went outside to check on the puppies, she spotted a nearby cardboard box and realized that the fur babies had been abandoned. The hungry pups had managed to escape the box and were searching for help. Upon picking up the box, the teachers found a heartbreaking note left by the person who had abandoned the puppies.
The note read, “Dog shelter didn’t want them. We can’t take care of them. The original owner wanted to throw them. I’m sure you can do something. I’m sorry.”
The teachers and staff immediately sprang into action, providing the puppies with food and water to help them cool off in the hot weather. Fortunately, a few staff members were present during the summer break and were able to assist the little pups. “If not, who knows what would have happened?” Peña told The Dodo.
Looking for Loving Forever Homes
After playing with the sweet puppies while waiting for animal control to arrive, one teacher fell in love with one of the pups and decided to take him home. Meanwhile, Kay Lynn Dodd, a school counselor, was captivated by the remaining four puppies. When the animal control officer informed her that the shelter might not have space for them, Dodd couldn’t bear to let them go.
So, she took the puppies home to foster them, ensuring they received all the love and care they deserved while preparing them for their forever homes. The adorable pups, named Rotund, Buttercup, Bandit, and Snickers, thrived under Dodd’s care and became affectionate little furballs.
Though they enjoyed their time with Dodd, the puppies eagerly awaited their new families who would love them unconditionally. Here’s to hoping these lovely pups find their forever homes soon and live happily ever after.
