A heartbreaking story emerges from Southern California, where a small gray-and-white dog was found lying in a school parking lot, nestled beside the school’s shrubs. She was patiently waiting for her family, who had abandoned her, to return. Despite being left alone, she refused to leave that very spot, hiding from anyone who tried to help.
Weeks passed, but no one came forward to claim the dog, nor did anyone return for her. She remained all alone in the world, unable to comprehend that her previous owners were no longer her family.

For fifteen days, this little dog refused to move from the parking lot shrubs. She was determined to wait as long as it took for her family to come back.

Many people attempted to help her, sharing her photos online in hopes of reuniting her with her family, but no one ever claimed her. Even when someone tried to approach her directly, she would hide, until one day, a woman named Suzette Hall stepped in.
Suzette Made Sure the Dog Got a Fresh Start
Suzette, the founder of Logan’s Legacy animal rescue in Irvine, California, heard about the dog’s story and immediately knew she had to help. She drove to the school and searched for the dog.
“For 15 days, there she was in the morning, afternoon, and night. Neighbors tried to help her, but she was too scared. I know she believed if she stayed there, they would come back for her. Loyal little girl,” Suzette shared.
Given the dog’s extreme fear and shyness, Suzette set a humane trap baited with a hot dog. Although the pup had been fed kibble by neighbors, the tempting hot dog was the perfect lure.
Once captured, the little dog was initially frightened and panicked but eventually calmed down and fell asleep in Suzette’s car. Suzette decided to name her “Scarlet.”

Suzette took Scarlet to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California, for a checkup. Scarlet received the care she needed and was soon cleared for a new foster home. Not long after, she was placed with a foster family, where she had plenty of other siblings to play with.
Little Scarlet Is Seeking a Furever Home

Though Scarlet is now happy in her foster home, she’s still searching for her forever family. This lovable dog is easy-going, affectionate, and gets along with everyone she meets.
Scarlet’s natural sweetness and great social skills make her an excellent fit for any family. However, Suzette has one condition for anyone who decides to adopt Scarlet: they must be someone who will never, ever leave her again.
Being abandoned again is simply not an option, and Suzette hopes Scarlet will finally experience what true love looks like. We wish for little Scarlet to find her perfect home as soon as possible!
